Dr. K. Elangovan is an accomplished academician, administrator, researcher, and mentor with over 25 years of distinguished experience in higher education. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Government College of Engineering, Salem, in 1999. He subsequently earned his Master's Degree in Manufacturing Technology and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Sheet Metal Forming from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli, in 2004 and 2011, respectively.
His professional journey includes serving in key academic leadership positions such as Principal and Additional Registrar at a State Private University. These roles have provided extensive experience in academic planning, institutional governance, curriculum development, examination reforms, faculty development, accreditation, quality assurance, and policy implementation.
He has played a significant role in establishing Centres of Excellence, developing industry-supported laboratories, and strengthening collaborations with leading industries to bridge the gap between academia and professional practice. His initiatives have contributed to enhancing research culture, innovation, skill development, and experiential learning across disciplines.
Committed to nurturing an entrepreneurial ecosystem, he has actively promoted Entrepreneurship Development Cell initiatives that encourage innovation, startups, and industry engagement. His leadership has inspired students and faculty to pursue creative solutions, interdisciplinary research, and entrepreneurial ventures.
He has successfully organized several International Conferences, Seminars, Faculty Development Programmes, and Workshops, including international seminars in association with NITTTR, Chennai. He firmly believes that a strong mentor–mentee relationship is fundamental to academic success and holistic development.
With a clear focus on academic excellence and institutional growth, he continues to contribute as Registrar towards building DSIRT as a multidisciplinary university of national and international repute, where knowledge, innovation, and values converge to create meaningful societal impact.
